Talking Macintosh?

Prepare your flamethrowers, its time to flame me!

Jokes a part, from what I've read, chances seems quite minimal to see GuildWars (which I really can't wait anymore, having troubles playing other games without thiking about GW) make it to Mac platforms.

If I remember right, I've read that some of Blizzards guys were a major part of the development team of GW. As we know, Diablo has been ported to Mac platform... so would it be safe to assume that there is a slightest chance that maybe, someday, GW gets ported to Mac?

I own a PC, but I'd really like to have my girlfriend play with me and... you guessed right, she cannot get rid of her damn G5.

To me it would be a good addition if they added the mac.

She could get one of those pc emulators though, they run xp and provide an allocated space for the hard drive. I had softwindows on my 1.5 ghz g4 mac and it ran about the same as a 1 gig windows system. Here is a link to the info on Microsoft Virtual PC with G5 support. . I hope this was helpful, there is another one out there but I can't remember what it's called, I might keep looking.

*Edit* This link is for a variety of emulators for the mac.

Hope this was helpful.

I hope that GW comes out on the Mac platform too. I'm sure a lot of die hard Mac fans would love this game. I do my work on the Mac and we game on the PCs. But yanno, it'd be pretty cool to also be able have 3 computers going with GW. ^.^ Especially when my mother-in-law visits.

from what i recall, GW was programmed with portability in mind. i am not a programmer, but i remember there being mention that the servers were coded to handle client input from a variety of sources. that means, in theory, it wouldn't matter if the client is running on a pc, a mac, or a console as it would all look the same to the server. and since the client is so small, i doubt it would be incredibly difficult to port.

Likewise, I'm a PC owner, but my brother is a die-hard Mac user (not that there's anything wrong with that ), we've been trying to find a multiplayer CRPG which could allow PC and Mac users to interact together (NWN would have been brilliant but doesn't support cross-platform gaming ). He was/is quite into Linage (sp?) but I am "allergic" to having to pay rather costly amounts (once currency conversion and bank fees are settled because servers / company are all overseas) just to play a game I've already bought, hence never played a MMOPH (sp? again) until I heard about Guild Wars on RPGdot.com stating no monthly fees, woohoo!! But no Mac client, aggghh!

So in the vain hope that people from NCSoft see this, I vote for a Mac version be produced!

Oh, and a native Linux version would be nice too!

If you go to guildwars.com and then to their support site to post a question you might notice something very interesting......
If you go to ask a question you are asked to fill out a form which includes what operating system you use. As well as the usual windows choices several versions of mac osx are included on the drop down menu. Could this mean they will be supporting mac in the future?!?

I'm a little torn on the issue. Porting a game to Mac and Linux can bring more people, but can also slow down developement.

just another cross-platform user (though i know i'm more of a mac fan) here pushing the release of a Mac version. Would bring a lot more users in, specifically everyone that doesn't want to pay the expensive price of World of Warcraft.

Here's one vote for me and two for my Mac friends. They really want to play this game and have been asking about twice a week since retail, "So, any news on a Mac client yet?" I'm hoping to give them some good news one of these days.

I'm also hoping for a linux client...

You can play NWN cross-platform. From the Mac NWN FAQ:

Quote:
1.03: Can the Mac version play as a NWN client or as a DM in multiplayer sessions with PC or Linux players?
Yes. All platforms can play together provided they are all running the same version number of Neverwinter Nights.

1.04: Can the Mac version connect to PC or Linux game servers?
Yes. All platforms can play together provided they are all running the same version number of Neverwinter Nights.
Info about the Mac version can be found here. You can even install the Windows expansions on your Mac, but I think you have to have the Mac version of the original NWN. More info here.

I know this is getting a tad off-topic, but thanks for the info, as fate would have it, my brother just purchased NWN for Mac last week (after I had to pass on the sad news that GW was not yet available for Mac), and he'd mentioned that the game box mentioned something about being cross-platform too.

Could have sworn when I last looked at NWN between PC and Mac (this would be going back well over a year ago now), was confirmed that it was not cross-compatible, is this something which has come recently (ie, within the last 12-18 months)?

I am extremely interested in getting my hands on a Mac version of Guild Wars! As a graphic designer, Macs are the standard in my industry - so I have a powerful machine with a fantastic wireless connection that would be perfect for online gaming. I don't want WoW, I want Guild Wars! Tons of my PC using friends are playing and I know several other Mac users who are interested. I would rush to the stores, preorder, whatever if I could get a Mac port. If any of the developers are reading this, please consider it!!
